SacRT is excited to announce plans to relocate the Sacramento Valley Station (SVS) to a new north-south configuration on the Gold Line. This relocation will support the City of Sacramento’s vision for the Intermodal Transportation Facility, designed to serve as a comprehensive transportation hub. The hub will integrate SacRT bus and light rail services including the future Downtown Riverfront Streetcar, Amtrak train and bus services, passenger and freight rail, regional bike trails and pedestrian pathways, and the future California High Speed Rail station.

Project Overview

The SVS Relocation Project encompasses several key enhancements:

  • Relocation of the Existing SVS Light Rail Station: The station will be moved to a more strategic position to better serve transit users.
  • Double Tracking the Alignment: This improvement will enhance capacity and efficiency for the light rail services.
  • Installation of a Double Crossover along H Street (between 5th Street and 7th Street): This will facilitate smoother and more flexible train operations.
  • Track Installation North of the New Station (along F Street): This additional track will be used for train storage and supporting operational needs.

Environmental Review

The project has completed the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review. This review is critical for assessing the environmental impact of the track realignment and new station location.

SacRT is committed to enhancing the region’s transportation infrastructure, and the Sacramento Valley Station Relocation Project is a significant step in this direction.
