Two SmaRT Ride Microtransit Zones Expanding August 29
The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is expanding two SmaRT Ride on-demand microtransit shuttle zones starting on Monday, August 29, 2022. The expansions will better serve residents living in the city of Elk Grove, and the master-planned community of McClellan Park in north Sacramento.
SmaRT Ride is SacRT’s on-demand ride-share shuttle service where customers can use a smartphone app to request a ride that will pick up and drop them off within the service zone boundaries. The SmaRT Ride zone improvements include:
Elk Grove Zone
The Elk Grove SmaRT Ride service area will expand to include connections to bus route E113, Elk Grove High School, Elk Grove Library, Elk Grove Adult Education Center, Elk Grove Food Bank, Old Town Plaza, Elk Grove Regional Park, and several Elk Grove grocery stores.
Natomas-North Sacramento Zone
The North Sacramento zone will expand further to include McClellan Park, serving the VA Medical Clinic, and businesses in the southwestern part of McClellan Park.
SmaRT Ride continues to be a popular transit option across the region. SacRT has nine SmaRT Ride zones, which has provided more than 170,000 trips in the past year. SmaRT Ride service zones include Arden-Carmichael, Citrus Heights-Antelope-Orangevale, Elk Grove, Downtown-Midtown-East Sacramento, Florin-Gerber, Folsom, Franklin-South Sacramento, Natomas-North Sacramento and Rancho Cordova.
SmaRT Ride customers can download the free SacRT SmaRT Ride app at Google Play and the App Store. Rides can also be requested by calling 916-556-0100 or by going online to ondemand.sacrt.com. Trip requests must be made on the same day.
SmaRT Ride service is only available for travel within each designated service zone, as shuttles cannot travel outside the individual service boundaries.
