Ride and Read on the Sacramento Rolling Library Train
Sit back, relax and read a book while the Sacramento’s Library Train takes you to your destination.
SacRT teamed up with the Sacramento Public Library to launch Sacramento’s first Rolling Library Train in August 2022. The brightly decorated train promotes riding and reading. This is also the first time the interior of a SacRT light rail train has been completely reimagined.
When you step onboard the library train, you will feel like you have been transported into a library as the walls and seatbacks resemble books on shelves. Riders can find hidden gems on those bookshelves featuring QR codes to free downloadable materials from the Sacramento Public Library.
Riders simply take out their phone, scan the QR code and that brings up the Sacramento Library App where they can download ebooks or audiobooks for free.
A special thank you to Lamar Transit Advertising for providing the printing and installation of the interior artwork.
Sacramento’s Rolling Library Train will place library services in the midst of riders daily routine making books and services more accessible.
The library train will travel on both the Blue and Gold light rail lines.
Sacramento Public Library
Sacramento Public Library has been providing readers 24/7 access to ebooks and audiobooks for several years through the award-winning Libby app. Library cardholders can not only check out ebooks, audiobooks and magazines, but also find free online classes in Libby’s Extras section to learn how to play musical instruments, decorate cakes, sew, and more.
Readers in Sacramento County just need a valid library card to access digital books from the Library’s digital collection. Use any major device, including Apple(R), Android™, Chromebook™ and Kindle(R) (U.S. only) to download the Libby app to get started borrowing ebooks and audiobooks anytime, anywhere.
