Power Substation Move
Temporary Gold Line Service Disruption
Due to a SMUD property purchase, SacRT is relocating one of its power substations in the downtown area that impacts weekend Gold Line light rail service for two weekends this month.
Last weekend, SacRT closed the light rail stations on the Gold Line near Sacramento Valley Station in order for a contractor to install the new instrument house and connect the controls to the existing train control wiring distribution system. The last shutdown will occur this weekend. There will be another 54-hour shutdown to run power to the new substation location.
SacRT staff from the Engineering and Wayside departments have been providing on-site support and direction during
construction and to help minimize disruption to light rail service.
During the service disruption, SacRT is operating buses to take light rail customers around the closed stations. Blue Line light rail service will not be affected.
