New Low-Floor Train Testing Underway

SacRT began new low-floor trains into service on September 1, 2024. SacRT continues to get deliveries of new low-floor trains. Before they can be put into service, part of the process requires testing of the new low-floor trains to simulate regular revenue service.

Train Testing on New Low-Floor Trains
SacRT is conducting dynamic testing on new low-floor trains to ensure they are fully ready to join the light rail system. Testing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 29, and Thursday, January 30, 2025, during late-night hours.

Testing Area:
Inbound and outbound tracks between Marconi Station and Watt/I-80 Station on the Blue Line.

Service Adjustments:
  • A bus bridge (special shuttle buses) will replace train service between Watt/I-80 Station and Royal Oaks Station during testing hours.
  • Bus bridge service will operate from 11 p.m. until the end of service on both days.
The dynamic testing process involves running the new low-floor trains on the tracks during revenue service to evaluate multiple mechanical systems under real-world conditions.
