Blue Line Service Disruption in April 2025

March 25, 2025 General, SacRT in Community

SacRTcommenced platform construction along the Blue Line to modernize the light rail system in preparation for the new low-floor light rail vehicles.

This project is an essential step toward enhancing accessibility and improving the rider experience.

There will be a few more service disruptions at Globe and Alkali Flat Stations in April and May 2025. During this time, the contractor will be installing Mini-High Shelters at Globe and installing detectable warning services at both stations.

Looking ahead, SacRT is preparing to enter the next stage of construction, which will include modifications to the remaining Blue Line stations and further upgrades to Gold Line stations to accommodate three-car train operations. While the project timeline is still being developed, construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026.

Construction Timeline & Rider Information:

  • April and May: Service disruptions will take place on the Blue Line for final construction at Globe and Alkakli Flat/La Valentina stations. More details will be available soon.

The schedule may shift depending on weather and other factors, so we encourage riders to check SacRT’s website or download the free Alert SacRT app for the latest service updates.

Rider Reminder! Riders are reminded to watch their step when traveling in Swanston Station as the platform areas have been raised eight inches to meet the height requirement of the new low-floor light rail trains. For safety reasons riders are urged to cross the stations at the ends of each platform and not in the middle of the station to avoid the raised curb.

Note: The Arden/Del Paso Station park-and-ride lot is currently closed through the end of the year, however there is still train and bus service at the station.
