Blue Line Station Platform Construction to Temporarily Close Globe Station Starting January 18, 2025
SACRAMENTO, CA –The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is continuing its station platform construction on the Blue Line to prepare for the arrival of the new low-floor light rail vehicles. As part of this modernization project, Globe Station will be closed for construction beginning Saturday, January 18, 2025, through Sunday, March 2, 2025. This critical project aims to enhance accessibility and improve the rider experience. There will be bus bridges in place between Alkali Flat/La Valentina and Marconi/Arcade stations on weekends due to construction activity impacting light rail service.
Construction Timeline and Rider Information:
- Saturday, January 18 through Monday, January 20, 2025: A bus bridge will be provided between Alkali Flat/La Valentina and Marconi/Arcade stations.
- Tuesday, January 21 through Friday, January 24, 2025: Globe Station will be closed to riders boarding and deboarding. No shuttle bus service will be available. Riders are encouraged to use Arden/Del Paso Station instead.
- Saturday, January 25 & Sunday, January 26, 2025: A bus bridge will be provided between Alkali Flat/La Valentina and Marconi/Arcade stations.
- Monday, January 27 through Friday, January 31, 2025: Globe Station will be closed to riders boarding and deboarding. No shuttle bus service will be available. Riders are encouraged to use Arden/Del Paso Station instead.
- This pattern will continue through the closure period, with bus bridge service available on weekends.
Dates for Weekend Bus Bridge Service:
- January 18-20, January 25-26, February 1-2, February 8-9, February 15-16, February 22-23, and March 1-2, 2025.
Dates for Weekday Globe Station Closure (No Bus Bridge):
- January 21-24, January 27-31, February 3-7, February 10-14, February 17-21, and February 24-28, 2025.

This platform construction project is a significant step toward modernizing the light rail system. SacRT is committed to ensuring accessibility and creating a more comfortable and inclusive transit experience for all riders. Once complete, these improvements will accommodate the new low-floor light rail vehicles and align SacRT with its vision for a more connected future. SacRT completed the Gold Line in 2024, with service resuming at Folsom area stations on January 5, 2025.
