Join Us in Raising Awareness for National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month
January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and SacRT is proud to partner with Soroptimist International of Elk Grove to spread awareness and educate our community about these crimes. Together, we can work to prevent human trafficking and support those impacted.
Throughout January, you’ll see messaging on our vehicles, in our passenger newsletter, and across our social media channels. Our goal is to inform and empower everyone to play a role in ending human trafficking. Throughout the year, SacRT has messaging about reporting Human Trafficking at all light rail stations and SacRT staff is trained on how to spot and report.
In 2000, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act established the United States' commitment to combatting human trafficking on both domestic and international fronts. Since 2010, each U.S. President has declared January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, reinforcing the importance of continued efforts to prevent these crimes.
