15-Day Blue Line Bus Bridge Now in Place: November 1 – 15 2025

SacRT has temporarily disrupted service on the Blue Line to allow for major construction on the new Dos Rios light rail station. This essential work requires a 15-day consecutive bus bridge—special shuttle bus service that has temporarily replaced train service—between Marconi/Arcade to 9th & K Stations.

Note: For Light Rail service headed toward Watt/I-80 Station, the train will now drop off riders at 9th & K Station pick up the shuttle bus.

Service Impact Dates:

  • Start: Saturday, November 1, 2025
  • End: Saturday, November 15, 2025 (end of service)
  • Regular service resumes: Sunday, November 16, 2025

Please note: While SacRT expects to resume regular Blue Line service on Sunday, November 16, 2025, the reopening date is subject to change based on final testing and safety approvals.

A bus bridge is in place that connects passengers between train stations when rail service is temporarily unavailable. During this construction period, shuttle buses are operating in both directions serving the impacted stations.

Why is this Work Needed?

Crews will be relocating two major infrastructure components to make way for the new Dos Rios Station:

  • The overhead catenary system (which powers the trains)
  • The track infrastructure (new inbound and outbound track configuration)

Because SacRT’s Light Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility is located near Marconi/Arcade Station, the main location where trains are stored, trains are not able to pass through the construction zone. All train inspections, cleaning, and maintenance will occur out on the system using temporary storage tracks during this time.

Completing the work in a consecutive 15-day window allows SacRT to avoid a longer, more systemwide disruption.

What to Expect After the 15-Day Disruption: Blue Line Temporary Lane Closure and Single – Track Operations

North 12th Street from Richards Boulevard to D Street will be closed for five months beginning November 10, 2025.

Starting Sunday, November 16, 2025, Blue Line service will resume with a temporary single-track operation between the future Dos Rios Station and Alkali Flat/La Valentina Station. This is part of the ongoing construction for the new Dos Rios Station.

While we don’t anticipate major delays, the single-track configuration may impact train schedules between Alkali Flat/La Valentina and Globe stations. SacRT will monitor operations closely and make adjustments as needed.

About the New Dos Rios Station

The future Dos Rios Station will be located in the triangle formed by 12th Street, 16th Street, Sproule Avenue, and Richards Boulevard. Once this construction is complete, Blue Line trains will operate on a new outbound track, bringing us one step closer to opening this new station.
