The Neighborhood Ride
Welcome to Transit Alert

Sign Up Today!

Do you want to know if your Neighborhood Ride bus is delayed before you walk to the bus stop? With RT’s new Transit Alert service, all you need to do is enter your travel schedule and contact information to receive notification by e-mail or mobile phone about disruptions that may affect your trip.

Transit Alert is a free subscription service that will quickly notify you by e-mail or mobile phone if your Neighborhood Ride route is affected by schedule changes or service disruptions. Information will only be sent about the Neighborhood Ride routes you choose, when you choose.

Transit Alert subscribers will receive text message notifications as soon as RT learns that a route has been disrupted. In addition, subscribers can sign up to receive other RT information and updates, including service changes and RT news.

Regional Transit’s Neighborhood Ride Service:

  • The Neighborhood Ride buses are smaller vehicles (approximately 30 feet or less in length) that offer residents greater mobility and new transit options on local intra-community trips.
  • The Neighborhood Ride buses have regular "fixed" routes and schedules like the rest of RT's service, but also offer special curb-to-curb service (not to be confused with ADA/paratransit door-to-door service). The buses are able to "deviate" off-route up to 3/4 of a mile to pick up and drop off seniors age 62 and older, and disabled passengers who qualify for paratransit service.
  • Reservations must be made one day in advance. To request a route deviation on The Neighborhood Ride, please call (916) 556-0250.  The reservation line is open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 7pm.
  • Passengers pay only $1.25 per trip. RT monthly passes and daily passes are also accepted.

  • Marked bus stops are located along the route, and printed schedules are available at several locations around Sacramento and on Regional Transit’s Web site.
  • Each bus can transport 12-17 passengers and up to two wheelchairs.
