Stations
Q:
Which RT park-and-ride lots will I have to pay to park?
A:
Effective, January 1, 2010, Regional Transit will impose a $1
per day parking fee at the following light rail park-and-ride
stations:
-
Watt/I-80
-
Watt/I-80
West
-
Roseville Road
This is a pilot
program that may be extended to include other light rail station
park-and-ride lots in the future.
Q:
Why did you choose the Watt/I-80, Watt/I-80 West and Roseville
Road light rail stations?
A:
After discussing the impact parking would have on surrounding
communities and our lack of experience in charging for parking,
the RT Board of Directors decided to implement a pilot parking
program instead of a systemwide program. The Watt/I-80,
Watt/I-80 West and Roseville Road light rail stations have the
unique feature of being bordered by freeways so the impact to
surrounding neighborhoods are minimal. This makes them ideal to
determine the impact of charging. Our decision to choose the
three north stations adjacent to one another made implementation
and management of the pilot program much easier. It is not our
goal to punish or single out a segment of our riders.
How to Pay
Q:
How do I pay to park?
A:
Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Park
your car in a numbered parking space. Remember to take note of
your parking stall number. Proceed to the parking payment kiosk
located at the boarding platform. Enter your parking stall
number and follow the prompts to pay for your daily parking.
The cost is $1 per day.
You can pay for
your parking either by cash, credit card or debit card. Exact
change is required if you are paying by cash (the parking
payment kiosks do not give change). You do not need to return to
your car after you have paid. You may also pay by mobile phone.
Monthly parking
passes cost $15 per calendar month and are available for
purchase online at
www.sacrt.com; RT’s Customer Service and Sales Center
located at 1225 R Street (adjacent to the 13th Street
light rail station); Bel Air markets
located at 1039 Sunrise Avenue (Roseville) and 7901 Walerga Road
(Antelope); or by calling
916-321-2849. Monthly parking passes will go on sale
beginning Tuesday, December 10, 2009.
Q:
Should I pay the daily parking fee or should I purchase a
monthly parking pass?
A:
Purchasing a monthly parking pass is cost effective and it's
convenient if you ride RT frequently. For occasional travel, you
may choose to pay the daily parking fee.
Q:
Do I have to return to my vehicle after paying the daily parking
fee to display the receipt on the window?
A:
No, all you have to do is remember your parking stall number and
enter it into the parking payment kiosk, then follow the prompts
to pay $1 for your daily parking. You will receive a receipt,
but you do not have to leave it in your vehicle.
Q:
Do
you need to pay for parking on weekends, holidays or after 5
p.m.?
A:
Yes.
